Question for written answer E-000213/2022
to the Commission
Rule 138
Filip De Man (ID)
It is now well known that the communist People’s Republic of China engages in quantum data mining through the communication and information technology it sells to the West and hence to EU Member States, too, this being a practice that targets (or may target) consumers, governments and all kinds of services in the EU.
- 1.Has the Commission compiled a blacklist of Chinese high-tech products or brands that should be banned from the EU on security grounds?
- 2.Does the Commission intend to apply an official import ban on such products from China?
- 3.Will the Commission also take into account the export of such technology by China via countries within its direct sphere of influence (e.g. Vietnam)?
