On 22 December 2021, Morocco, Israel and the United States celebrated the first anniversary of the signing of their joint declaration, which paved the way for an ambitious partnership with promising prospects between Morocco and Israel. A series of bilateral agreements were concluded, human exchanges were increased and sectoral cooperation was launched between these two important partners of the European Union. Thus, this tripartite agreement constitutes an incentive to advance peace in the Euro-Mediterranean region and to create opportunities for the EU’s Southern Neighborhood.
- 1.What actions do the Vice-President of the Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (VP/HR) and the Commission intend to take to support the promising rapprochement between Morocco and Israel within the framework of this tripartite agreement?
- 2.Do the VP/HR and the Commission intend to consider the possibility of concluding a similar tripartite agreement with these two strategic partners, in the context of the New Agenda for the Mediterranean?
- 3.What measures are the VP/HR and the Commission prepared to take in favour of reliable actors of peace and stability, such as Morocco, whose historical role as bridge builder is well established?
