The EU continues to be fully committed to a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus problem, on the basis of a bicommunal, bizonal federation with political equality, in accordance with all the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and in line with the principles on which the EU is founded.

Resumption of Cyprus settlement talks within the UN framework is crucial. The EU will continue to play an active role in supporting the process. In December 2021, the Council underlined that Turkey’s commitment and contribution in this regard remains crucial.

The EU is committed to deepening its cooperation with Armenia and Azerbaijan in order to work closely in overcoming tensions and promote a South Caucasus that is secure, stable, peaceful and prosperous for the benefit of all people living in the region.

There are no sanctions against Azerbaijan on the Council agenda.
