The dramatic events of recent weeks have also had serious financial consequences, bringing rapid rises in the price of fuel, electricity, gas and some basic foodstuffs, such as by-products of flour and animal farming, in their wake.
These sudden price rises are having a dramatic impact on Italian and EU families and companies. Prices have shot up to levels never before seen in recent years.
These price rises will cause serious economic and social insecurity in years to come, as the repercussions for the public continue to be felt.
In view of this:
- 1.Will the Commission take immediate action to revise, even if only temporarily, the biodiversity strategy and the farm to fork strategy, through safeguard plans allowing more arable land to be used for crops?
- 2.Will it revise CAP national strategic plans to adjust them to suit these new circumstances by permitting greater flexibility so that more land can be brought in production?
