Gas interconnection capacity in the light of the war in Ukraine

Question for written answer E-001135/2022
to the Commission
Rule 138
Sara Skyttedal (PPE)
In the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine and the need to phase out natural gas imports from Russia to the European Union, the Commission presented the REpowerEU communication. In it, the Commission says that it will assess, as a matter of priority, necessary measures and investments in gas infrastructure and interconnections between Member States to increase the EU’s liquefied natural gas capacity.
In the light of the above, I would like to ask the Commission the following questions:
- 1.Will it reassess its revised Regulation on Trans‑European Networks for Energy (TEN-E) in order to meet the targets set out in the REpowerEU communication?
- 2.What other measures and investments is it considering in order to increase the gas interconnection capacity between Member States?
