Increase in farm subsidies in response to natural disasters and rising costs

Question for written answer  E-002237/2022/rev.1
to the Commission
Rule 138
Stelios Kouloglou (The Left)

Greek farmers, including the Greek Prime Minister, received subsidies in 2020 and 2021 from the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). Mr Mitsotakis is reported[1] to have received the paltry sum of around EUR 8 500, as confirmed by a government spokesperson[2].

In view of this:

Can the Commission say whether the executive is envisaging an increase in the level of subsidies for hard-pressed farmers in response to disasters triggered by climate change and losses sustained as a result of inflation and soaring energy prices?
