Enforcement of European law in practice

Question for written answer E-002520/2022
to the Commission
Rule 138
Stanislav Polčák (PPE)
As a lawyer, I was interested in an article in this year’s 25th issue of the weekly magazine Politico on the enforcement of European law, or rather the shortcomings in this area. From the decreasing number of infringement proceedings with Member States and the increasing number of mediation proceedings - in conjunction with other facts - the text concludes that the enforcement of European law in practice is problematic. Whilst I agree that mediation proceedings are entirely appropriate in certain cases and that resolving conflicts with the Member States by means of infringement proceedings may not be suitable, I would be very interested in the Commission’s view of the conclusion put forward.
