Entry/Exit System further delayed
18.7.2022
Question for written answer E-002640/2022
to the Commission
Rule 138
Cornelia Ernst (The Left)
As matters stand at present, roll-out of the Entry/Exit System (EES) has been delayed until May 2023. The full system may still not be brought into operation at that point in time either; rather, individual components may be phased in. According to the Commission, responsibility for this lies with the system contractors.
- 1.When will the EES become operational, as things currently stand, and what has caused the delay?
- 2.As things currently stand, will the full EES become operational in May 2023, or only individual components, and what does the Commission consider to be a realistic timetable in this connection?
- 3.Who has asked for a phased-in start-up, and how much does the Commission estimate that this will additionally cost?
