Are human traffickers receiving Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) money?
Question for written answer E-002755/2022
to the Commission

In July 2022, it was discovered that at least 55 victims of human trafficking were employed at the construction site of Austrian chemical company Borealis in Kallo (Belgium). According to Borealis, the French-Italian joint venture IREM-Ponticelli is responsible.
Since the Commission’s Directorate‑General for Economic and Financial Affairs, unlike the Members of the European Parliament, has access to the national lists of the final beneficiaries of RRF loans and grants, can the Commission answer the following questions:
- 1.How much RRF money is received by Borealis AG in Belgium, Ponticelli Frères S.A.S. in France, and Irem S.p.A. in Italy?
- 2.How much RRF money does the temporary joint venture IREM-Pontecelli receive in Belgium, France, and Italy?
- 3.What is the Commission doing to make sure that RRF money does not flow to companies engaging in human trafficking and social exploitation?
