to the Vice-President of the Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
Rule 138
Bettina Vollath (S&D), Andreas Schieder (S&D)
In its answer to question E-003327/2021, the High Representative indicates that the EU has been closely following the case of Mr Kamran Ghaderi and fully supports efforts made by the Austrian government, which is directly responsible for providing him with consular assistance. Both he and the Commission are acting in close cooperation with the EU Member States, notably those with embassies on the ground.
To date, Kamran Ghaderi has not had any contact with the Austrian Ambassador and has not been allowed to see him. This is in breach of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, to which Iran is also a signatory.
