Since March 2014, the EU has adopted a series of restrictive measures in respect of actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

The EU leaders have also reiterated their determination to increase the pressure on Russia even further in relation to its war of aggression against Ukraine, and they remain ready to move quickly with further restrictive measures in addition to those already adopted, as stated on several occasions, including in the Versailles Declaration of 10 and 11 March 2022.

As stated in the European Council conclusions of 23 and 24 June 2022, work will continue on restrictive measures, including to strengthen implementation and prevent circumvention.

As regards the possible introduction of sanctions banning the import of furniture from Belarus into the EU, the Council has not taken a position on this matter.
