Funding the far-left European Network against Racism

Question for written answer E-003933/2022
to the Commission
Rule 138
Filip De Man (ID)
The Commission grants subsidies to the European Network against Racism (ENAR), a far-left NGO. In 2020, this NGO received more than EUR 900 000 from the Commission. The European Commission therefore appears as a partner on the NGO’s website, as does the Open Society Foundations, founded by George Soros. The ENAR is also associated with the Muslim Brotherhood: CIIB and FEMYSO, among others, are part of the ENAR’s network. The ENAR can therefore be deemed to be on the far-left of the political spectrum, an NGO which contributes to disrupting the European model of society and which does so with Commission funds and support.
It is noteworthy that an organisation that receives lavish subsidies from the Commission can simultaneously maintain close contacts with it as a lobby group. They have had some 15 meetings together, in fact.
- 1.What explanation can the Commission give for funding its own influencers, a far-left lobby group in this instance?
- 2.To this day, the ENAR has failed to disclose the amount it invests in influencing the Commission. What is the Commission doing about this?
- 3.Which Commissioners and officials have attended meetings with the ENAR?
