Humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh
16.12.2022
Question for written answer E-004092/2022
to the Commission
Rule 138
Loucas Fourlas (PPE)
Alarming reports are coming in from various reliable sources to the effect that the Lachin Corridor leading to Nagorno-Karabakh has been blocked, interrupting the supply line to that country and leaving its inhabitants cut off.
There are also rumours that natural gas supplies have been disconnected. It is clear to all that such a situation is particularly tragic for women and children, the sick, the chronically ill and elderly people, resulting in a full-blown humanitarian crisis and necessitating immediate action if the worst is to be avoided.
In view of this:
- 1.Can the Commission say what steps it is taking to ensure that Azerbaijan immediately restores lines of communication and power supplies?
- 2.What efforts are being made by the Commission to prevent any further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the region?
