Request for information about the vouchers to support European SMEs
14.3.2023
Question for written answer E-000865/2023
to the Commission
Rule 138
Gianantonio Da Re (ID)
According to press reports, the European Commission and the European Union Intellectual Property Office are planning to put EUR 60 million towards supporting European SMEs in the form of vouchers. The aim of the fund is to help SMEs with the valuation and protection of intellectual property, which is vital for Italy’s many outstanding undertakings. Intellectual property is increasingly at risk in today’s world, especially in the rapidly evolving digital environment, where in 2022 alone there was a 168 % increase in high-profile scams, damaging the manufacturing sector.
In view of the above, and with the measure expected to enter into force in April 2023, can the Commission say:
- 1.What criteria will be used to decide how the total amount is allocated and divided up?
- 2.What requirements companies will need to meet to obtain such funds?
