Question for written answer E-001315/2023
to the Commission
Rule 138
Henna Virkkunen (PPE), Jens Gieseke (PPE)
The Commission is preparing several initiatives related to competitiveness, which are particularly important for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). They include the implementation of the ‘one-in one-out’ principle and other parts of the better regulation agenda, which was promised in Commissioner Breton’s letter of appointment. They also include a competitiveness check and measures to ease SMEs’ reporting obligations, as mentioned in speeches by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. SMEs need these reforms urgently, which is why we are calling for clarification regarding their exact content and the precise schedule for their implementation.
- 1.What specific progress has been made on the ‘one-in one-out’ principle and other parts of the better regulation agenda?
- 2.What specific progress has been made on the competitiveness check?
- 3.What does the goal of reducing the reporting burden of SMEs by 25 % mean in concrete terms, and when will it be put into practice?
