Implementation of EU sanctions against Russia
6.9.2023
Question for written answer E-002576/2023
to the Commission
Rule 138
Urmas Paet (Renew)
Several EU companies are struggling to uphold their obligations made to other companies owing to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and the consequent implementation of the sanctions imposed by the EU. These companies’ failure to meet their obligations as a result of the EU sanctions policy has led other EU companies, including some Member State-owned enterprises, to file financial claims against them.
- 1.What is the Commission’s view of the complaints being filed by EU companies against each other arising from compliance with EU sanctions against Russia?
- 2.What is the Commission’s assessment of such conduct by a company owned by a Member State towards other EU companies in a situation where the EU has imposed sanctions on Russia as an aggressor that companies are bound to observe?
- 3.What support and solutions can the Commission offer to companies that implement EU sanctions and, as a result, come under pressure from other EU companies?
