On 24 December 2023, almost 200 people were killed and hundreds wounded in violent attacks on predominantly Christian villages in Plateau State, Nigeria.
- 1.Does the Vice-President of the Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (VP/HR) agree that these were targeted attacks against Christians, considering that they were well-coordinated attacks around Christmas and that they are believed to have been perpetrated by local Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram in collaboration?
- 2.How does the VP/HR assess the commitment of the Nigerian authorities to combating the aforementioned violence and to protecting Christians in this country?
- 3.How can the EU and the EU Special Envoy for the promotion of freedom of religion or belief outside the EU increase their efforts to combat persistent violence against Christians in Nigeria?
