Question for written answer E-000134/2024
to the Commission
Rule 138
Aurélia Beigneux (ID)
On 28 November 2023, the Commission submitted a new two-year list to Parliament and the Council detailing the energy projects of common interest it intends to fund. If accepted by the two institutions, the 166 projects will be eligible to receive a label and public aid. That aid, which could total hundreds of millions of euros, is awarded under the Connecting Europe Facility. The facility is managed by the Commission’s European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency.
- 1.Can the Commission provide details of the criteria and procedure for selecting projects eligible for funding and how will it ensure that the projects selected significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable energy sources?
- 2.What measures does the Commission intend to take to guarantee the transparent and responsible allocation of funds and assess projects’ real environmental impact?
- 3.How does the Commission intend to encourage cooperation between Member States and the private sector to make investments as effective as possible and promote a coherent EU-wide energy transition?
