Rule 138

According to the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (Associazione Italiana Oncologia Medica – AIOM), there has been a rapid growth in the incidence of cancer over the last 20 years, especially among younger age groups and the under-50s.
According to the AIOM report, the number of cancer cases in Italy has increased by over 18 000 in the last three years alone, to stand at 395 000, with the increase applying to both sexes, especially after the pandemic.
The study clearly shows that the actual number of deaths due to cancer has decreased over the years, but that the number of cases among the under-50s rose by 80 % from 1990 to 2019.
In view of the above, can the Commission clearly state whether it plans to increase funding and grants for scientific research into curbing the incidence of cancer?
