Transparency of High-Level Expert Group on access to data for effective law enforcement
25.4.2024
Question for written answer E-001335/2024
to the Commission
Rule 138
Patrick Breyer (Verts/ALE)
The original Rules of Procedure (RoP) of the High-Level Expert Group on access to data for effective law enforcement (HLG) of 4 October 2023[1] provided for significantly more transparency than the subsequently changed rules of 22 January 2024 do[2]. EDRi has commented that the HLG does not meet ‘EU standards of transparency, fairness and accountability.’[3]
- 1.Why, on what legal basis and under whose responsibility were the original RoP for the HLG subsequently modified?
- 2.When will the Commission make available ‘the agendas, the minutes and the participants’ submissions’ of the HLG, in accordance with the current rules?
- 3.For how long will the HLG exist, and when will it adopt findings, conclusions or recommendations?
