Application of state aid rules to support for the employment of disabled persons

ORAL QUESTION H-0265/07
for Question Time at the part-session in April 2007
pursuant to Rule 109 of the Rules of Procedure
by Jacek Protasiewicz
to the Commission

In view of the experience gained to date with implementation by Member States of measures in support of the employment of disabled persons in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 2204/2002[1], and with reference to the Commission's planned changes to state-aid legislation (State Aid Action Plan), does the Commission intend in the future to change the rules on monitoring support for the employment of such workers, together with the requirements for programmes exempted from compulsory notification under group exemptions, and to introduce, in keeping with common market principles, measures under which the additional costs involved in employing disabled persons are established on a flat-rate basis?

Does the Commission believe that support currently provided to employers of disabled persons should in future be treated as state aid?
