The Stockholm Programme and the Internal Security Strategy called for more coherence and consolidation of the different cross-border law-enforcement information exchange instruments and tools existing in the EU, including the ‘Prüm Decision’. On 7 December 2012, the Commission adopted two Communications on this topic.
