Extensive destruction of EU-funded infrastructure in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs) documented in reports by the Office of the European Union Representative (West Bank and Gaza Strip, UNRWA), raises serious concerns about protecting EU humanitarian and development investments. As the Commission oversees EU budget due diligence, such demolitions also question accountability for taxpayers’ money, particularly for Gaza’s post-war reconstruction.
- 1.What was the total amount of EU funding allocated to infrastructure projects in Gaza in the two years before 7 October 2023, and can the Commission provide a detailed list of the funded projects and their locations?
- 2.What EU-funded structures or facilities in the West Bank and East Jerusalem have been demolished or otherwise destroyed by Israeli authorities since 2024?
- 3.How many formal requests for compensation or reimbursement has the EU submitted to Israel in relation to such demolitions since 2021, and how many of these requests have resulted in payment, either in full or in part?
