P-003714/2017(ASW)
Answer given by Mr Vella on behalf of the Commission
Question reference: P-003714/2017

The Commission was not aware of the specific situation of Lake Bracciano.

Italy adopted the update of the River Basin Management Plans on 27 October 2016. The Commission is currently assessing whether these plans are in line with the requirements of the Water Framework Directive(1), including the plan of Central Apennines which covers Lake Bracciano.

As a part of the assessment, the Commission is also evaluating whether Italy has adopted appropriate measures to prevent the degradation of natural habitats and the deterioration of the state of the lake.

The results of the assessment will be published at the beginning of 2018 and in case of lack of compliance with the EU water acquis, the Commission will take remedial actions as appropriate.

(1)Directive 2000/60/EC, OJ L 327, 22.12.2000.
