P-001967/2020
Priority question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 138
Eugen Tomac
Subject: Impact of coronavirus pandemic on employment market

According to ILO estimates, over 24 million jobs could be lost worldwide as a result of the coronavirus. In Romania, it is estimated that around 500 000 could be laid off as a direct or indirect result. This will have a devastating impact on the economy of the Member States and the lives of their citizens. In view of this:

How does the Commission plan to avert mass redundancies as a direct result of the pandemic?

What protection will it provide for those made redundant over this period?

What initiatives is it envisaging to stimulate job creation once the pandemic has come to an end?
