Priority question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 138
Marco Campomenosi, Isabella Tovaglieri
Subject: Extending the validity of professional road transport documentation during Covid-19

Many Member States have introduced measures at national level to address the Covid-19 crisis, some of which concern the road transport sector.

Some Member States have extended the validity of professional documentation issued at national level for drivers who are unable to get to test centres to renew their certification when it has expired.

However, international road transporters who have been unable to renew their documentation owing to the current unavoidable circumstances are unable to take to the roads and provide international services because there is no mutual recognition between Member States of these extensions.

In the light of the above, can the Commission state what measures it is considering taking on top of the Communications it has already published to address this issue of the extension of the validity of these documents and ensure they are recognised by all Member States as long as the pandemic lasts so that all road transporters can continue to provide international services?
