Priority question for written answer P-005091/2020
to the Council
Rule 138
Christine Anderson (ID), Bernhard Zimniok (ID)
Subject: Distribution of so-called refugees from the Moria camp in the EU

1. What is the Council’s assessment of the request by Greece that so-called refugees from the Moria camp not be accepted by the Member States, as this would lead to copy-cat incidents?

2. How is Germany’s role during its Council Presidency being evaluated, with representatives of its government repeatedly stating that there must be no repeat of 2015, when the decision of the Chancellor to allow so-called refugees to travel from Hungary to Germany became a significant pull factor?

3. What initiatives is the Council taking to address the root causes of migration, so that people will not leave their countries of origin in the first place and descend en masse on the EU’s external borders?
