Priority question for written answer  P-000243/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Anne Sander (PPE)
 Answer in writing
Subject: Additional US tariffs on European agricultural, wine and agri-food products

On Wednesday, 30 December 2020 the United States announced an increase effective from 12 January 2021 in the tariffs already imposed on certain EU agricultural, wine and agri-food products in connection with the ongoing the aviation industry dispute between Airbus and Boeing.

1. What action does the Commission intend to take, particularly through the WTO, to end this industrial and trade dispute and to avoid a further escalation of sanctions?

2. Does the Commission intend to adopt additional market measures quickly, along the lines of those adopted in 2019 and 2020, to support the European agricultural sectors that are affected?

3. Is the Commission considering the establishment of a compensation fund to support the sectors affected?
