to the Commission
Rule 138
Harald Vilimsky (ID)
Subject: EU leaders’ reception by Turkey’s President

Despite Turkey’s aggressive conduct, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Council President Charles Michel visited Turkish President Erdoğan in Ankara.

1. Why does the Commission insist on continuing economic cooperation with Turkey when Turkey breaks international law and abuses human rights?

2. Should diplomatic ties be maintained with the Turkish President despite his undiplomatic behaviour, which was clearly aimed at openly humiliating the Commission President?
