Priority question for written answer  P-003590/2021
to the Council
Rule 138
Klemen Grošelj (Renew)
Subject: Access to the Council non‑paper on borders in the Western Balkans

There has been a heated debate in the past few months on the existence of a non‑paper concerning the redrawing of the borders of the Western Balkan countries, which was allegedly circulated in EU channels by the Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša.

The subject of this non‑paper would have far‑reaching implications for the political stability of the Western Balkan countries and consequently substantial repercussions on the policy of the European Union vis‑à‑vis the entire region. As an elected representative of the European Parliament and Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs who is deeply involved in Western Balkan affairs on a daily basis, I believe that having access to the information contained in this non‑paper would immensely benefit my work.

I would therefore like to ask the Council if I can be granted access to this non‑paper on borders in the Western Balkans, subject to strict confidentiality rules and with full respect for all relevant legal obligations.
