to the Commission
Rule 138
Maxette Pirbakas (ID)
Will the Commission maintain EU subsidies for French sugar cane, sugar and rum producers, as well as other sectors such as renewable energy with a view to enabling the industry to diversify into the production of innovative sugar products?
Does the Commission intend to disburse funds to enable sugar cane producers to branch out into other innovative areas such as plastics or alternative processed sugar cane products?
Does the Commission intend to disburse funds to enable sugar cane planters to continue operating, given that the sector is of major importance for thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the French overseas departments? What does it intend to do to alleviate conditions in the sector, which are jeopardising the viability of factories such as that at Marie-Galante in Guadeloupe?
