16. Request for the defence of parliamentary immunity
Jean-Claude Marchiani, a former Member of the European Parliament, had written to the Presidency to request once more that his immunity and privileges be upheld in the context of legal proceedings taking place at the Tribunal de Grande Instance in Paris. This was despite the fact that Parliament had already decided on 05.07.2005 that Mr Marchiani's immunity should be upheld.
Pursuant to Rule 6(3), the request had been referred to the committee responsible, the JURI Committee.
