3. Defence of parliamentary immunity
Following Parliament's decision of 05.07.2005 to uphold Umberto Bossi's immunity in the context of criminal proceedings in progress before a court in Bergamo (Minutes of 05.07.2005, Item 7.8), and under Rule 7(9) of the Rules of Procedure, the Italian authorities had forwarded information to the President from the court concerned stipulating that its judgment of 21.01.1998 on the case was final.
That information had been sent to the commitee responsible, the JURI Committee.

COMMISSION PROPOSAL
In line with a proposal from the ENVI Committee to reject the proposal for a directive, Parliament rejected the Commission proposal.
Under Rule 52(1) ,the Commission was called upon to withdraw its proposal. Stavros Dimas (Member of the Commission) stated that the Commission would consider the matter.
The matter was therefore referred back to the committee responsible.

7. Announcement by the President
In case C-305/05, on a request from the Belgian Ordres des barreaux,the Cour d'arbitrage (Belgium) had referred to the European Court of Justice a question relating to the validity of certain provisions of Directive 2001/97/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 December 2001 amending Council Directive 91/308/EEC on prevention of the use of the financial system for the purpose of money laundering (OJ L 344, 28.12.2001, p. 76).
Giuseppe Gargani, Chairman of the JURI Committee, had informed the President of Parliament of his committee's wish to avail of the opportunity to submit observations to the Court of Justice under Article 23 of the Court's statute.
Having informed the Conference of Presidents of the matter, the President of Parliament, on the basis of the powers conferred upon him by Rule 19(4) of the Rules of Procedure, had decided that, within the set timeframe, the necessary observations would be submitted to the Court in favour of a ruling in case C-305/05 that the act in question adopted under the codecision procedure was indeed valid.
