The Swedish authorities had given notice of the appointment of Jens Holm to replace Jonas Sjöstedt as Member of Parliament with effect from 27.09.2006.
Parliament noted the appointment under Rule 4(1).
The President reminded the House of the provisions of Rule 3(5).
Estonia's permanent representative to the European Union had officially informed the Presidency that Toomas Hendrik Ilves would take up his duties as President of the Republic of Estonia on 09.10.2006.
Parliament took due note and established the vacancy with effect from 09.10.2006, under Article 7(3) of the Act concerning the election of representatives of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage and Rule 4(1) of the Rules of Procedure.
