4. Approval of Minutes of previous sitting
Marian Harkin and Antonios Trakatellis had informed the Presidency that they had been present but that their names were not on the attendance register.
The Minutes of the previous sitting were approved.
5. Statement by the President
The President reminded the House that it had adopted a legislative resolution on 15.06.2006 (Minutes of 15.06.2006, Item 9.5) in favour of Slovenia's adoption of the euro as of 01.01.2007. A number of technical adjustments needed to be made to the regulations. Although the Treaty did not provide for Parliament to be consulted, the Council nevertheless wished to seek Parliament's opinion on the matter.
The ECON Committee did not believe that there was a need for Parliament to adopt a new resolution. Pervenche Berès, the chairwoman of that committee, had written to the Chairman of the ECOFIN Council, informing him of the ECON Committee's favourable opinion in respect of the technical adjustments to be made.
The President established that there were no objections to the procedure and that Parliament thus endorsed the opinion.
