The next item was the election of a Vice-President to fill the seat vacated by Pierre Moscovici following his resignation with effect from 26.06.2007.
The President announced that the PSE Group had nominated Martine Roure.
As Martine Roure was the only candidate, the President proposed that the House vote by acclamation, pursuant to Rule 12(1).
The House agreed to the proposal.
The House elected Martine Roure by acclamation.
The President proclaimed Martine Roure Vice-President of the European Parliament and congratulated her on her election. Pursuant to Rule 17(1), she would take the place of her predecessor in the order of precedence.
