The following spoke: Graham Watson, on behalf of the ALDE Group, who thanked the President for organising the presentation of the Lux Prize at Parliament.


6. Statement by the President

The President made a brief statement to mark the 62nd anniversary of the United Nations. He drew attention to the official launch at Parliament on the same day of the annual report on EU-UN cooperation on crisis management, development and promotion of democracy and fundamental freedoms.

On behalf of Parliament, the President welcomed members of a delegation from Mauritania - led by His Excellency Dr Abderrahmane Ould Tolba - who had taken their seats in the distinguished visitors' gallery.
