4. Approval of the minutes of the previous sitting

The following spoke: Monica Frassoni, who again raised the subject of the activation by the Commission of the European warning system on radioactive risks, following an incident at the Krško nuclear power station (minutes of 05.06.2008, item 1); she asked the Presidency-in-Office of the Council and the Commission to uphold agreed levels of transparency and to clarify the situation, Roberto Musacchio, who supported her remarks, and Günter Verheugen (Vice-President of the Commission), who described the events and the procedure followed by the Commission, and Rebecca Harms.

5. Request for the waiver of parliamentary immunity

The Italian authorities had forwarded a request that the parliamentary immunity of Antonio Di Pietro be waived in a case pending before the Rome Civil Court, concerning events that had occurred when he was a Member of the European Parliament.

Pursuant to Rule 6(2), the request had been referred to the committee responsible, the JURI Committee.
