The Italian authorities had given notice of the election of Romano Maria La Russa to a post incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament pursuant to Article 7(3) of the Act concerning the election of the members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage, and of the appointment of Antonio Mussa as a Member of the European Parliament in place of Romano Maria La Russa.
Parliament took note with effect from 04.11.2008.
The Maltese authorities had given notice of the appointment of Glenn Bedingfield as a Member of the European Parliament in place of Joseph Muscat, with effect from 29.10.2008.
The Slovene authorities had given notice of the appointment of Aurelio Juri as a Member of the European Parliament in place of Borut Pahor, with effect from 07.11.2008.
The President congratulated Borut Pahor on his election as Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia.
Under Rule 3(2), until such time as their credentials had been verified or a ruling had been given on any dispute, and provided that they had previously made written declarations stating that they did not hold any office incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament, Glenn Bedingfield, Aurelio Juri and Antonio Mussa would take their seats in Parliament and on its bodies and would enjoy all the rights attaching thereto.
