The following spoke: Herbert Reul and Hannes Swoboda, on the voting procedure (the President replied that their comments would be passed on to the Conference of Presidents), Evelyne Gebhardt, who requested that the Commission make a statement before the final vote, Jacques Barrot (Vice-President of the Commission), Hannes Swoboda, who requested that the House proceed to the vote but that the final vote be held over until a later date, and Jacques Toubon, who requested that the final vote be held that day as planned.

By electronic vote (354 in favour, 187 against, 12 abstentions) Parliament decided to proceed to the vote, including the final vote.
