COMMISSION PROPOSAL

Approved as amended (P6_TA(2009)0114)

The following spoke: Michael Cashman (rapporteur), who, pursuant to Rule 53(1), asked the Commission to state its position on Parliament's amendments, and Günter Verheugen (Vice-President of the Commission).

Michael Cashman, pursuant to Rule 53(2), made a formal proposal to Parliament as to whether the vote on the draft legislative resolution should proceed.

Parliament decided to postpone the vote. The matter was deemed to be referred back to the committee responsible for reconsideration.

Michael Cashman requested the President to ask the current and subsequent Council Presidencies to open a formal dialogue with Parliament (the President replied that his request would be forwarded), and requested that certain technical adjustments be made to the text adopted.
