8. Council position at first reading

The President announced, in accordance with Rule 61(1), that the following position had been received from the Council, together with the reasons which had led to its adoption, and the Commission's position on:

- Proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning a European rail network for competitive freight (11069/5/2009 - C7-0043/2010 - 2008/0247(COD))
referred to responsible: TRAN

The three-month period available to Parliament to adopt its position would therefore begin the following day (26 February 2010).
