16. Council position at first reading

The President announced that, in accordance with Rule 61(1), the following position had been received from the Council, together with the reasons which had led to its adoption, and the Commission's position on:

- Position of the Council at first reading with a view to the adoption of a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes (06106/1/2010 - C7-0147/2010 - 2008/0211(COD))

The three-month period available to Parliament to adopt its position would therefore begin the following day (18 June 2010).
