14. Request for the defence of parliamentary immunity

At its sitting of 11 November 2009, the European Parliament had noted a request for the defence of Viktor Uspaskich's parliamentary immunity in connection with judicial proceedings brought by the Lithuanian authorities (see minutes of 11.11.2009, item 5). The request had been referred to the Committee on Legal Affairs under Rule 6(3).

By letter of 8 September 2010, the Chair of the Committee on Legal Affairs had informed the President of Parliament that the request should be deemed to have lapsed, as, at its sitting of 7 September 2010, Parliament had decided to waive Viktor Uspaskich's parliamentary immunity in connection with the judicial proceedings in question (see minutes of 7.9.2010, item 6.6).
