The minutes of the previous sitting were approved.
3. Statements by the President
The President made a statement on the ecological disaster in the west of Hungary and sent a message of sympathy on behalf of Parliament to the victims' families.
He then made a statement on the fourth anniversary of the assassination of the Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya, mentioning that the circumstances of her death and the deaths of other human rights activists in Russia had never been explained. He called on the Russian authorities to remedy this situation.
Finally, on the eve of the World Day Against the Death Penalty, 10 October, he spoke of Parliament's opposition to the death penalty and called on the states that applied it to introduce a moratorium.
