9.18. Single application procedure for residence and work ***I (vote)

Report on the proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on a single application procedure for a single permit for third-country nationals to reside and work in the territory of a Member State and on a common set of rights for third-country workers legally residing in a Member State [COM(2007)0638 - C6-0470/2007- 2007/0229(COD)] - Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs. During the vote, Francesco Enrico Speroni had spoken on the voting results being displayed in the Chamber.

The following had spoken after the vote: Neelie Kroes (Vice-President of the Commission), who gave the Commission's position, Alejandro Cercas, who asked for a clearer position to be provided, Véronique Mathieu (rapporteur) on the outcome of the vote, and Neelie Kroes.

Having established that the Commission would not be withdrawing its proposal, the President confirmed that the matter was referred back to committee responsible under Rule 56(3).
