6. Election of the Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament

The President announced that he had received the following nominations for election to the office of Vice-President: Alexander Alvaro, Roberta Angelilli, Isabelle Durant, Othmar Karas, Miguel Angel Martínez Martínez, Edward McMillan-Scott, Georgios Papastamkos, Gianni Pittella, Anni Podimata, Jacek Protasiewicz, László Surján, Indrek Tarand, Alejo Vidal-Quadras, Oldřich Vlasák and Rainer Wieland.

As the number of candidates exceeded the number of seats to be filled, the President proposed that the Vice-Presidents be elected by secret ballot, in accordance with Rule 15(1).

The President drew attention to the provisions of Rule 15(1) and explained the voting procedure.

The vote was taken.
