- Rainer Wieland: 216 votes

- Edward McMillan-Scott: 192 votes
- Oldřich Vlasák: 184 votes

The President noted that no candidate had obtained the absolute majority of the votes cast and therefore that all the seats remained to be filled.
The President noted that no nominations had been withdrawn and that a third round of voting was therefore necessary.
The vote would be held the next day.
