5. Announcement by the President

The President spoke on the fire in a factory manufacturing clothes for Western companies in Dacca (Bangladesh) on 24 November 2012. He informed the House that the Conference of Presidents had decided that a debate covering all aspects of this matter, with statements by the Council and the Commission, would be held during the part-session in January 2013.

The President expressed the European Parliament's sympathy for the victims' families.


6. Mandate of the Special Committee on Organised Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering

The President notified the House, under Rule 184, of the Conference of Presidents recommendation to extend the mandate of the Special Committee on Organised Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering.

Since no objection had been raised, the mandate of that Special Committee was extended to 30 September 2013.

7. Interpretation of the Rules of Procedure

The interpretation of Rule 187 by the Committee on Constitutional Affairs had been announced in plenary the previous day (minutes of 10.12.2012, item 3).

Since no objection had been raised against it by a political group or at least forty Members (Rule 211(4)), that interpretation was deemed to have been adopted.
