4. Composition of Parliament

The Italian authorities had given notice of the election of Rosario Crocetta as President of the Region of Sicily with effect from 17 December 2012 and the appointment of Francesca Barracciu to replace him on the same date.

In accordance with Article 7(1) of the Act concerning the election of the Members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage, and with Rule 4(1) and (4) of its Rules of Procedure, Parliament established the vacancy of Rosario Crocetta's seat with effect from 17 December 2012 and noted the appointment of Francesca Barracciu as a Member of the European Parliament from that date.

Under Rule 3(2), until such time as her credentials had been verified or a ruling had been given on any dispute, and provided that she had previously made a written declaration stating that she did not hold any office incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament, Francesca Barracciu would take her seat in Parliament and on its bodies and would enjoy all the rights attaching thereto.

Frieda Brepoels had resigned as a Member of the European Parliament with effect from 31 January 2013.

Pursuant to Rule 4(1), Parliament established the vacancy with effect from that date and informed the national authorities concerned.

The authorities of the Republic of Bulgaria had given notice of the election of Preslav Borissov to replace Iliana Ivanova as Member of Parliament with effect from 1 January 2013.

Under Rule 3(2), until such time as his credentials had been verified or a ruling had been given on any dispute, and provided that he had previously made a written declaration stating that he did not hold any office incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament, Preslav Borissov would take his seat in Parliament and on its bodies and would enjoy all the rights attaching thereto.

The authorities of the Republic of Romania had given notice the election of George Becali to the Romanian parliament with effect from 19 December 2012.

Pursuant to Rule 4(1), Parliament established the vacancy with effect from that date and informed the national authorities concerned.

The authorities of the Republic of Romania had given notice of the election of Dan Dumitru Zamfirescu as a Member of the European Parliament to replace George Becali, with effect from 9 January 2013.

Under Rule 3(2), until such time as his credentials had been verified or a ruling had been given on any dispute, and provided that he had previously made a written declaration stating that he did not hold any office incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament, Dan Dumitru Zamfirescu would take his seat in Parliament and on its bodies and would enjoy all the rights attaching thereto.
